Real Time

Reel Movie Mondays is proud to present the popular Canadian film REAL TIME on February 23 @7pm only at the Galaxy Theatre.
It debuted at the 2008 Slamdance Film Festival to popular acclaim, and screened as part of the Canada First! programme at the the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival®.
In the tradition of the best character studies, the premise of the film is straightforward. Andy Hayes (Jay Baruchel, Knocked Up, Just Buried) is a hapless small-time criminal who has gambled his youth away and now owes a moneylender. Reuben (Randy Quaid, The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, Brokeback Mountain) has been hired to kill Andy.
As the film opens, Reuben pulls up next to Andy on the cold streets of a slummy part of town, forces his target to join him in his battered car and tells him in no uncertain terms that he has about an hour to live.
What would you do with your last moments on earth? While Andy has no idea, Reuben is adamant that he figure it out. He offers to take him anywhere and is baffled that Andy could have no apparent ties to anything or anyone at all. As their journey unfolds in real time, we discover that Andy feels victimized by a life of bad luck. Reuben, meanwhile, wants the younger man to reconsider the meaning of his life, even as it is about to end.
Shot in and around Hamilton, Ontario, and imbued with masterful cinematography and an inspired soundtrack, this film is one you should not miss.
